Georgia State University College of Law was founded in 1982 as the Georgia State University School of Law. It was the first public law school in Atlanta and the second public law school in Georgia. The school was granted full accreditation by the American Bar Association (ABA) in 1986, making it one of the youngest schools to receive such recognition. Since then, the college has grown and now offers a wide range of degree programs including a JD program, an LLM program, and certificates in specialized areas such as Intellectual Property Law, Health Law, Environmental Law, and International Trade & Investment Law.
The college has also created numerous clinics that offer students hands-on experience working with real clients on real cases. These include clinics focused on family law, criminal defense, immigration law, poverty law and civil rights litigation.
