By | January 6, 2023

Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law was established in 1834 as a private institution under the name of “The Law Department of Dickinson College”. It was the first law school in Pennsylvania and one of the first in the nation. The school was founded by John Reed, a prominent lawyer and Supreme Court Justice, and Thomas Burnside, a professor at Dickinson College. The school operated as a part of Dickinson College until 1847 when it became an independent institution. It was then known as “The Law Institute”. In 1850, the name was changed to “Law Department of Pennsylvania College”, and it became one of only three law schools in the state. In 1895, the school moved to its current location on Market Street in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and changed its name to “Dickinson School of Law”. Over the years, Dickinson School of Law has grown significantly and now offers degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The school has also expanded its curriculum to include areas such as business law, environmental law, health care law, technology law and international law. In addition to offering traditional courses in legal theory and practice, the school also provides students with hands-on opportunities through internships with local businesses or government agencies. Check educationvv.com for higher education, business schools and counties in Minnesota.
