Quinnipiac University School of Law was founded in 1990. The school was the first to be established in Connecticut since the Yale Law School opened in 1824. Initially, Quinnipiac University School of Law operated out of temporary facilities on the North Haven Campus of Quinnipiac University. In 1993, the law school moved to its permanent location at the Mount Carmel Campus in Hamden, Connecticut. From its inception, Quinnipiac has been dedicated to providing an excellent legal education and has been recognized as one of the top law schools in New England. In 2000, Quinnipiac received full accreditation from the American Bar Association (ABA).
Since 2000, Quinnipiac has continued to expand and improve its offerings. The school now offers a wide range of programs including traditional JD programs as well as an LLM program and dual degree programs with other universities. In recent years, Quinnipiac has developed numerous innovative initiatives such as their Entrepreneurship Clinic which provides free legal services to entrepreneurs and start-ups throughout Connecticut; their Veterans’ Clinic which provides free legal services for veterans; their International Human Rights Clinic which allows students to travel abroad and work on international human rights cases; and their Externship Program which allows students to gain real-world experience by working with a variety of organizations throughout Connecticut.
