National Flag of Saint Lucia
According to aceinland, the national flag of Saint Lucia is composed of three vertical stripes in the colors of blue, yellow and white. The blue stripe is on the hoist side, the yellow stripe is in the center and the white stripe is on the fly side. The blue stripe represents Saint Lucia’s sky and sea, while the yellow stripe symbolizes its golden sunshine. The white stripe stands for peace, justice and hope. In addition to these colors, a black triangle appears on the hoist side with a grey-white fleur-de-lis in its center.
At the top left corner of the flag, a gold-colored, stylized map of Saint Lucia appears against a blue background. This map consists of two distinct landmasses connected by an arching bridge that symbolizes both unity and strength among all citizens of Saint Lucia. The two landmasses represent Gros Islet (the mainland) and Maria Island (formerly known as La Pagerie). Surrounding this map are seven gold stars which represent each of Saint Lucia’s seven parishes: Anse La Raye, Castries, Choiseul, Dennery, Gros Islet, Laborie and Soufriere.
The national flag serves as a reminder to all citizens that they are part of one unified nation despite their geographical differences or cultural backgrounds. It also serves to remind them that they must always remain united in order to achieve greater progress and prosperity for their country as a whole. Its design reflects both St Lucian history as well as its present day aspirations for unity within its people and nationhood among all citizens regardless of their background or heritage.
