National Flag of United Arab Emirates

According to aceinland, the national flag of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a symbol of the country’s unity and sovereignty. It consists of three equal horizontal stripes; red, green and white, with a vertical black band at the hoist side. The colors in the UAE’s flag represent several aspects of the country’s history and culture.

The red stripe at the top symbolizes courage and strength while green represents fertility, growth and prosperity. The white stripe stands for peace, while the black band is a reminder of Abu Dhabi’s allegiance to Islamic law. Additionally, it is believed that all four colors together represent Arab unity.

The UAE was formed in 1971 when seven sheikhdoms joined together to form one nation under one flag. In order to show this unity and solidarity, each of these sheikhdoms were represented by their own color on the flag; red for Abu Dhabi, green for Dubai, white for Sharjah and Ajman, while Ras Al Khaimah was represented by both red and green stripes on either side of the white stripe.

The design of UAE’s national flag was adopted on December 2nd 1971 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who later became president of United Arab Emirates until his death in 2004. The original design was slightly modified in 2009 when a vertical black bar was added to represent “the federation’s adherence to Islam as a religion” according to official government sources.

Today this iconic flag is flown proudly across all seven emirates in celebration of their unity as one nation with one voice under its common banner. It stands tall as an embodiment of hope for future generations who will continue to uphold its values through its words “In God We Trust” written in both English and Arabic along it’s edges.

The national flag has become an integral part of UAE culture over time; it appears everywhere from government buildings to private homes throughout the country where it serves as a reminder that despite their differences they are still united under one banner- that they are all citizens of United Arab Emirates!
