The University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law (UMKC Law) was founded in 1895 as the Kansas City School of Law. It was the first law school in Kansas City and the first professional school at UMKC. The School of Law began with just five faculty members and a handful of students, but quickly grew to become one of the top law schools in the region. In 1916, it was renamed to its current name, UMKC School of Law. The school has since grown to include over 1,000 students and more than 50 full-time faculty members. Throughout its history, UMKC Law has been dedicated to providing a quality legal education that is affordable and accessible for all. It is committed to providing a diverse learning environment that encourages collaboration between students and faculty from various backgrounds.
