The University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law was founded in 1870 by the Virginia General Assembly and was originally known as the Richmond College Law Department. The school was located in downtown Richmond, Virginia and became the first law school to be established in the state. In 1914, it moved to its current location on the University of Richmond campus and was renamed T.C. Williams School of Law after John Randolph Tucker, a renowned attorney and judge who served on the Supreme Court of Appeals in Virginia from 1887 to 1896. The school has grown significantly since then and now offers a variety of courses in various areas of legal practice such as business law, constitutional law, criminal law, environmental law, international law, technology law and more.
