Widener University School of Law was founded in 1971 as the Delaware Law School by the Delaware Bar Association. The school was established to meet the legal education needs of the people of Delaware and the surrounding region. It was originally located in Wilmington, Delaware, and eventually became affiliated with Widener University in 1988. In 1989, it moved to its current location in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and changed its name to Widener University School of Law. Over the years, Widener has grown from a small law school with just over 200 students to a thriving institution with a student body numbering nearly 1,000. The school offers courses in areas such as corporate law, criminal justice, environmental law, family law and more. Additionally, Widener also provides students with opportunities for hands-on learning through its clinical programs and legal clinics.
