About Georgia
Georgia is one of the most versatile southern states in the United States. In the Peach State (peach state) you will find quiet coastal towns, clean beaches, charming southern flair, friendly people and diverse mountain landscapes. Georgia, as the founding state of the United States, was among the thirteen colonies that once abandoned the British and was the fourth state to sign the constitution.
The state’s motto is “Wisdom, Justice and Moderation”, which means that in German wisdom, justice and moderation are used. The state has an Atlantic coast of approximately 161 km in length. In the north, Georgia is shaped by the Blue Ridge Mountains, which are part of the Appalachian Mountains, which shape large parts of the U.S. east coast. The Brasstown Bald is with 1458 m the highest peak in the state.
Georgia is completely surrounded by southern states, so it borders Florida in the south, Alabama in the west, South Carolina in the northeast, and North Carolina and Tennessee in the north. Almost 60% of Georgia’s residents are of European origin, the proportion of African Americans is approximately 30%, which is one of the highest proportions within the U.S. states. There are also Hispanics, as well as a smaller group of Asians and indigenous peoples. The largest cities are Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Savannah and Athens.

Conservative values in the Deep South
Georgia, like many other southern states, belongs to the Deep South and has developed into a Red State for the Republicans in recent years. Overall, the state is conservative and traditional. The people of Georgia are hospitable but often still have a nostalgia for the good old days. Georgia is also proudly called the Empire State of the South.
In the Civil War, Georgia fought against the Northern States as part of the Confederate States of America in 1861-1865. Georgia was the last southern state to rejoin the United States on July 15, 1870, and was one of the last states to break racial segregation.
Georgia is a coveted state to live in due to the pleasant climate and its beautiful landscapes, cities and quality of life.
Due to the increasing population, weight is increasing at the federal level and in presidential elections. The main religions and churches are the Southern Baptist Convention, the United Methodist Church and the Catholic Church as well as smaller Protestant free churches.
The climate in Georgia is subtropical and humid. Because of its location on the Atlantic Ocean and near the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean’s zone of influence, Georgia is also affected by tornadoes and hurricanes. The Coca-Cola Company, founded by Asa Griggs Candler in Atlanta in 1892, is world-famous. Atlanta is also home to Cable News Network (CNN) and Delta Air Lines. The Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta is one of the largest airports in the U.S. and worldwide. It is a hub to many other airports in the United States.
Otherwise, the wood and textile industry also plays a role, and of course agriculture. Peanuts, cotton, rice, sugar cane and citrus are grown here.
